AUSTRALIAN MEDITATION CONFERENCE
Friday 20 to Sunday 22 July 2018
A platform for an interdisciplinary collaboration of like-minded people and organisations to share knowledge and advance understanding of meditation, mindfulness, contemplative and reflective practices that enhance our lives.
Presented by the Meditation Association of Australia (MA) this event is the first of its kind in Australia. This forum will offer an opportunity for shared learning and networking for meditation teachers, psychologists, neuroscientists, educators, health professionals, business leaders, academics and researchers, all of whom specialise in, practise or are fascinated by meditation.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The primary aim of the 2018 Australian Meditation Conference is to provide a platform for a collaborative dialogue involving a wide range of speakers, representing a rich diversity of philosophies and applications of meditation, mindfulness, contemplation and refection.
Delivered across the weekend the main conference program will feature keynote addresses and panel discussions. These dialogues will be supplemented by a variety of practical workshops, the delivery of academic papers, a quiet room for contemplation, an exhibition marketplace, live music and a ‘netwalking’ session though the local gardens.
Satellite events on Friday 20 July include an Education Forum, Masterclasses for practitioners and professionals, an early evening dinner in the exhibition area, a free public meditation gathering and an evening presentation by psychologist and New York Times best-selling author Dr Rick Hanson.
ABOUT MEDITATION AUSTRALIA
The Meditation Association of Australia (MA) is the national peak body representing meditation teachers in Australia. We set peer-reviewed standards for meditation teachers, maintain a register of suitably qualified meditation teachers and promote continuing professional development and ethical conduct.
MA also supports members of the public who practise or want to learn meditation and assists organisations wanting to incorporate meditation into their organisational culture.
Formed in 2008, MA is a nationally registered not-for-profit association. Managed by an elected voluntary Board of meditation teachers from diverse backgrounds, MA promotes meditation as an integral part of life.
This conference marks our 10th anniversary and gives us the opportunity to celebrate the remarkable growth in the awareness of the benefits of meditation over the past decade.
We would like to extend our gratitude to our event sponsors, especially ACU, for making this inaugural conference possible.
